We look back on two days of inspiring presentations, discussions, creative thoughts and new encounters at the international conference 'Repurposing Places for Social and Environmental Resilience', organised by the University of East London, counterarchitecture and Arup.
Exciting keynotes by Dr.Juliet Milan, Simon Alford, Dr. Anna Minton, Doina Petrescu, Alex Scott-Whitby and numerous talks by researchers and practitioners from around the world marked the intensive event with innovative research and practice approaches around the theme of repurposing places for social and environmental resilience.
Reinvention, retrofitting, placemaking, social value, autoregulation, systems thinking or co-resilience were recurring buzzwords in the debates and presentations.
Making of Housing and the Chair of Planning Theory at RWTH Aachen University were represented in this exchange by Helena Schulte with the following research approach:
